According to Google search data collected by Misumi Skincare, online searches for “red lipstick” exploded 376% in the United States after Taylor Swift was spotted wearing red lipstick at her birthday in Manhattan on December 13th.

The data further reveals that online interest for red lipstick increased almost five times the average volume after Taylor Swift was seen celebrating her 34th birthday.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for Misumi Skincare said: “Red lipstick is a popular look for many celebrities, but it’s rare that we see Taylor Swift without her trademark lips. Pictures of the singer’s star-studded birthday celebrations in Manhattan took the internet by storm, with many Swifties quick to spot the popstar’s signature beauty look that has accompanied her through all her different eras.”

“From matte to gloss, red lipstick is a staple look all-year round, especially during the festive season. These findings provide a perfect example of the ‘Taylor Swift effect,’ highlighting her enduring ability to inspire and influence beauty choices with a single appearance.”
